Open your supplier's web address and tap Sign in. You do not need an app, though if your supplier has switched it on you can add the till to your phone's home screen like one.

What signing in unlocks

It is what shows your own contract pricing, your order history and your saved lists. Without it you may see nothing at all, or list prices only, depending on how your supplier has set things up.

No account yet

Create trade account opens an application form. Most suppliers review these by hand, so expect a short wait before you can order.

Search

Tap the magnifying glass and type a product name, or a product code - the codes in square brackets under each item. Codes are usually quicker.

Scan

Tap the barcode icon and point your camera at the barcode on the box or the swing tag. This is the fast way to restock: walk your shelves and scan whatever has run out.

Scanning works in Chrome and Edge. Safari does not support it.

Photograph

Where your supplier has turned it on, the camera button lets you photograph a product you cannot name. Useful when you know the hat but not the code.

Browse

Tap the collection name at the top to move between ranges, and Filter to narrow by size, colour, brand, price or availability.

Check the browser first

Camera scanning relies on a browser feature Chrome and Edge have and Safari does not. If you are on an iPhone using Safari, the button may be there but will never return a result.

If you are on Chrome or Edge

• The camera needs permission - the browser asks once, and you can allow it again from the padlock in the address bar.
• Close anything else holding the camera, such as a video call, then reload.
• Private browsing blocks the camera outright. Use a normal tab.

The alternative

Typing a product code into search finds the same item, and a handheld scanner plugged into the machine types the code for you.

Tap any product to open it. There are two ways to order, and the second is the one that saves time.

Swatch

Pick a colour, pick a size, set a quantity, add. Fine for one or two items.

Bulk

Every size and colour at once, in a grid. Type quantities across the whole size run and add them in a single go. Ordering four colours in five sizes turns twenty separate actions into one.

Which layout

You may see a choice of Matrix, Table, Cards or List. They show the same thing arranged differently - matrix suits size runs, table suits long lists. Use whichever you find quickest.

Straight from the grid

Some suppliers show a small + on each product so you can add without opening anything.

Reorder

Order history in the menu lists everything you have bought. Open any order and tap Reorder to put the whole thing back in your basket, then adjust quantities before you check out.

When you last bought it

You may see this shown on the product itself - handy for judging whether you are due more.

Saved lists

A basket you order regularly - your monthly restock, say - can be kept as a saved list and loaded in one tap.

The basket sits down the side, or behind View cart on a phone.

• Change quantities with − and +
• Remove a line with the ×
• Hold parks the basket so you can start another and come back to it
• Clear empties it, and asks first - with a chance to undo

Export

The Export button gives you the basket as a PDF or a spreadsheet.

The PDF includes product pictures, which makes it the one to forward to a colleague or a partner for approval. The spreadsheet can be re-imported into the quick order pad, so you can save an order, edit it, and load it back.

If you already know exactly what you want, skip the browsing entirely.

The order pad takes a list of product codes and quantities. Type them, paste them from a spreadsheet, or upload a CSV. Everything lands in your basket at once.

This is the fastest way to place a large repeat order.

Your prices

Prices shown are your prices - your account's contract rates, once you are signed in.

ex VAT or inc VAT

The word beside a price tells you whether tax is already included. If your supplier trades internationally you will see the word your own country uses - VAT, GST, or simply tax.

Volume prices

Some suppliers drop the unit price as you buy more. Where that applies you may see a note telling you how many more you need to reach the next price.

Pay takes you to your supplier's normal checkout, where you enter delivery and payment details as usual. Depending on your supplier you may also see:

• A purchase order field - put your own PO number in and it appears on the paperwork
• A delivery date or week - tell them when you want it
• Deliver or Collect - choose collection if you would rather pick it up
• Send payment - emails a payment link, or shows a QR code, so somebody else can pay
• Request a quote - emails the basket to your supplier instead of buying it

Where your supplier offers it, an Invoice button on any order in Order History gives you a proper PDF: their details, your details, your PO number, a line for every item and the tax broken down.

That is the document to pass to your accounts team. It is built from the tax actually charged at checkout, not an estimate.

Where offered, Request a return lets you say what is coming back. Tick the lines, set how many of each - you can return 3 of the 12 you ordered - and choose a reason.

What happens next

This sends a request to your supplier, who will be in touch about collection. It does not process the return by itself.

The button is missing

Older orders lose it. Your supplier sets how long the window stays open.

The ? button in the side rail offers whichever channels your supplier has set up - WhatsApp, a message form, email or phone.

Tap it while you are looking at an order or a sold-out product and your message arrives already filled in with the details, so you do not have to explain which item you mean.

The sun or moon icon in the side rail switches between light and dark.

Your choice is remembered on your own device, so it stays as you left it. It only affects you - not your colleagues, and not your supplier's site.

If the icon is not there, your supplier has not offered dark mode.

If your supplier has enabled app mode, your phone will offer to install it. It then opens from your home screen like an app, full screen, with no browser bars.

On iPhone: Share → Add to Home Screen.

Switching it on (merchants)

App mode is a settings panel: name, icon, splash background, orientation, and an optional install banner. Until it is on, phones will not offer to install anything.

Some of this may not apply to you. Suppliers switch features on and off to suit how they trade, so if something described here is missing, they have not enabled it. Ask them.

Open Online Store → Themes → Customize → the gear icon (Theme settings).

The order to work in

1. License (ACCUDY) - until the key is filled in, a licence notice sits over the till
2. Brand - POS name, favicon, dark mode
3. Colors - three colours drive the whole light theme
4. Features - the biggest panel, and where you turn things on

Everything else is optional. There are 344 settings across 19 panels, and most have a sensible default that can be left alone.

Most features start off

Invoices, returns, reviews, the welcome gate, approval, the brochure, price lists, click & collect and VAT all begin switched off. That is deliberate - turn on what you need rather than switching off what you do not.

What is happening

Nothing can make a baked-in white background transparent. The Product photos in dark mode setting decides what sits behind the photo instead, and one of its three options assumes your images are cut out.

The three options

• Melt the white into a light tile (default) - no visible seam. Right for photography shot on white, which is most catalogues.
• Light tile behind them - the same tile, without the blending.
• Dark tile - only if your images are cut out with real transparency. With ordinary photos this is exactly what makes every product a bright white square.

Behind product photos sets that tile's colour. White by default.

The three choices

• No - light only, and the switch disappears from the tool rail
• Yes, with a switch - the buyer chooses
• Yes, and follow their device to begin with - starts in whatever their phone or computer is set to, until they choose for themselves

The buyer's choice is remembered in their own browser and applied before the page paints, so nothing flashes white.

Brand colour in dark is separate

Deliberately. A blue that reads well on white is usually too dark on black. The dark canvas, panels, insets, lines, text and quieter text are all yours to set as well.

Choosing layouts

Four are available - matrix, table, cards and list - and you choose which to offer and which opens first. Matrix suits size runs. Table suits long variant lists.

Leave the stock column off

Stock column in the table is off, and should usually stay off. Shopify gives a theme a stock figure only for the variant on the product card, so every other size and colour shows a dash. Turning it on advertises a gap rather than filling one.

Reviews work with any app. The stars are drawn from the rating Shopify already stores, so they need no script of their own.

Recognised automatically

Your reviews app is normally left on automatic. Judge.me, Loox, Okendo, Yotpo, Stamped and Junip are recognised.

Anything else

Choose Something else and paste that app's widget code into Widget code, using {{product_id}} where it asks for the product.

Filter decides which facets a buyer gets - size, colour, brand, price, availability.

Tags start off

Most stores use tags for internal purposes, and exposing them wholesale shows buyers things they were never meant to see. If you turn them on, list the ones you actually want to expose.

Welcome gate

A sign-in screen for visitors who are not logged in. It only appears when nobody is signed in, so log out to see it. Show the welcome screen again after controls how long browsing lasts before it returns.

Account approval

Only customers carrying your approved tag can order. You choose what everyone else may do: nothing, browse without prices, or browse with prices. The holding screen wording is yours.

Require login to see prices

The classic wholesale gate.

Minimum order value

Blocks checkout below a figure, with a message telling the buyer how much more they need.

Kiosk idle reset

Clears the basket after a period of inactivity - for an unattended terminal on a trade counter.

What it is

A second, customer-facing screen: a tablet showing the basket as it is built. The left panel can carry adverts - images you upload or products from a collection - and you can send short messages to it, such as “Please tap or insert your card”.

The token

It needs a Storefront API access token, created in Shopify under Apps → Develop apps.

Give it read scope only. The token is public by design - that is what Storefront tokens are for - but there is no reason to grant more than reading.

Why you have to state a rate

Shopify does not work tax out until checkout, so a cart export cannot read it from the order. You give the rate here instead.

The settings

• Show VAT - off by default
• Rate - as a percentage, e.g. 20
• Your prices - leave on Take it from Shopify. It reads your actual tax setting, so the two can never disagree.
• Wording for exempt customers - shown instead of a VAT line for anyone Shopify marks tax exempt

Leave the rate empty where there is no single rate

American sales tax varies by the buyer's state and county, so no one figure is right, and Shopify works the real amount out at checkout anyway.

Exemption overrides everything

Handing a business a document showing tax it does not owe is worse than showing none.

VAT on product prices puts a word beside each price saying which basis it is on.

A buyer can work out 20%. What they cannot tell from a number is whether it is already included - and that is what causes a wrong purchase order. Saying which it is costs the card no height.

Leave the wording empty

Then it follows the buyer's country: VAT in Britain and Europe, GST in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore and India, and plain “plus tax” in the United States.

What to fill in

• What to call it - Invoice, Tax invoice, VAT invoice, whichever your accountant expects
• Number prefix - INV- turns #211126 into INV-211126
• Your details - logo, trading name, address, VAT number, company registration, a contact for queries. Left empty, your Shopify store details are used.
• Payment - terms, a due date, and bank details

Keep the tax breakdown on

Break the tax down by rate gives a line per rate. Where an order carries more than one, this is what makes the document valid.

Two fields that matter for trade

Their purchase order number and their VAT number. Buyers often cannot process an invoice without the PO, and the VAT number is a legal requirement on a cross-border EU invoice.

What this actually does

Shopify does not let a theme create the return. What this does is collect an itemised request - the lines, how many of each, and why - and deliver it to your usual notification inbox. You process it in the admin as normal.

The settings

• Allowed for - days from the order date. The button hides on older orders. Zero means no limit.
• Reasons - your own list, one per line. Worth writing to suit your trade. The defaults are generic.
• Allow part of a line - lets a buyer return 3 of the 12 they ordered, which is the normal case in wholesale.

The contact form

It is Shopify's own, so it is spam-protected and lands in your usual notification inbox. Each field can be off, optional or required - company, account number, VAT number, enquiry type, urgency, quantity, postcode and how to reply.

Where it appears

On an order, on a sold-out product, and you can hide it in kiosk mode.

Turning the contact form on loads Google's reCAPTCHA. The badge is hidden and the attribution Google requires appears on the forms instead.

A registration form for new trade accounts, on a page you nominate.

Every field can be shown or hidden, and separately made required - business name, business type, VAT number, company number, phone, website, trading address, expected monthly order value, and a notes box. The business type and order value choices are comma-separated lists you write.

The thank-you screen wording is yours, and the terms tick-box text should say whatever your trade terms require.

The SEO panel controls what Google shows for your store, plus structured data for products and your company.

Hide home page from Google

Worth considering for a trade-only store. There is little point having a sign-in screen ranking.

This is deliberate

Shopify re-renders the whole preview on every settings change. While the editor is open the theme skips its data feeds and shows twelve products instead of forty-eight, which keeps it responsive.

Your buyers always see the full grid.

No setting can offer these, because the platform does not expose them to a theme:

• Per-variant stock figures - only the variant on the product card has one
• Tax before checkout - Shopify works it out at the payment step
• Product codes in the predictive search dropdown
• Creating a return - a theme can only collect the request

The principle behind it

Where Shopify already knows something, the theme asks Shopify - whether your prices include tax, whether a customer is exempt, the buyer's country. You will not find settings duplicating those. Two places to state one fact is two places to get it wrong.

Until the licence key is filled in, the theme shows a licence notice over the till.

Open Theme settings → License (ACCUDY) and enter your key, and optionally the licensed domain.

Working out which version you are on

Leave the support-info button in the About this theme panel switched on. It is what tells you which version you are running when something is wrong.

Click & collect adds a Deliver or Collect choice to the basket, availability in the product picker, and collection notes.

Keep the checkout reminder on. Shopify's own checkout will still ask for a shipping method, and the reminder is what stops that reading as a mistake.

Export cart gives CSV and PDF of the current basket. There are two placements and both are on: beside the subtotal, and on the phone cart bar.

On a phone the cart panel sits behind View cart, so without the second one the export is two taps deep.

Price list download

Buyers can pull your prices as CSV or PDF, with a column for each thing you tick.

Brochure (catalogue PDF)

A printable catalogue. Choose the collections, the page layout, all six colours, and a cover with your own picture and wording.

Products across is worth experimenting with: three fits most catalogues, two suits products that need larger pictures.

The card quantity stepper lets buyers add straight from the grid without opening a product.

The setting that matters

When to show it - hover does nothing on a phone, so on touch screens choose always or on tap. Left on hover, the stepper simply never appears for those buyers.

While you are in this panel

Live prices refresh the grid without a reload, on an interval you set in minutes. Screen layout lets staff drag the cart panel wider, and has a portrait option for a wall-mounted tablet.

Barcode scanning

Needs BarcodeDetector, which Chrome and Edge have and Safari does not. You can add an optional flash and beep so staff know a scan landed without watching the screen.

Voice search

Uses the browser's own speech recognition, so it is reliable in Chrome and Edge.

Predictive search

The dropdown cannot show product codes - Shopify does not give a theme those at that point. Codes still work when typed into full search.
